KEVIN ZEESE
Zeese

On March 20, 2007, Kevin Zeese who serves as Director of Democracy Rising, helped organize and lead approximately 20 anti-Iraq War protesters who camped out for nearly eight hours in the Capitol Hill office of Maryland Rep. Chris Van Hollen.  Zeese and his fellow activists, all of whom reside in Van Hollen’s congressional district, allege that the congressman’s anti-war rhetoric is negated by his support for legislation funding the U.S. military mission in Iraq. During their direct action, the protesters read poetry, recited the names and biographies of soldiers killed in Iraq, and taped pictures of soldiers onto the walls of Van Hollen’s office. They were finally led out of the office by Capitol Police at 11:35 p.m.

Zeese was an initiator (along with Bill Scheurer, Dick Mazess, and Linda Schade) of Voters For Peace.
